Studies on the Korean foetal Hypophysis

Abstract
|

|
A histometrical study of the adenohypophysis.
The differentiation of the adenohypophysis cells was studied biometrically.
As the material, the Korean 93 foetuses ( 8 46, 9 47) ranging from 4 to 10 months.
The stress of observation was placed on the morphological and quantitative differentiation on the PAS-positive cells, i.e., the pituitary basophiles.
The findings obtained are summarized as follows:
1. According to the stain ability distribution and the size of cytoplasmic granules the following 2 forms of PAS-positive cells were observed:: 1) those containing strongly PAS-positive (dark red) coarse granules, 2) those containing weakly PAS-positive (pink to red) fine granules.
